I Salute My Fellow Veterans

Saturday, November 11, 2017

Today is Veteran’s Day * I'm a proud US ARMY veteran. I served four years .It all started with my basic Training at Ft. Jackson in South Carolina, then I was shipped off to Ft. Lee Virginia for my advanced individual training or AIT it was called back then.
I chose to be a 77 W (whiskey) which was a Water Treatment Specialist. My duty stations were Wurburg Germany and Ft. Ord California. Though I only did four years, it is an experience I would do it all over again.
I took advantage of the G.I. BILL which later paid for my degree at Macon State College (the current Middle Ga State University) and got me started at Mercer University.
The military was and still is a viable career path. I got out and spent the last 25 years working in the field of water treatment. I was awarded 2 Army Commendation Medals, and an Army Achievement medal for my work as a Water Treatment Specialist and for my deployment to Panama during (Operation Nimrod Dancer) part of the Noriega invasion.

I wanted to take time today to salute veterans and the many active duty soldiers who are still serving and protecting us ** HAPPY VETERAN''S DAY to my fellow veterans.
