My Thrifty New Fave Lunch

Monday, February 29, 2016

This year I am trying to be more thrifty not cheap or stingy, but thrifty
in all  aspects of my life. Webster defines thrifty as managing or using money in a careful or wise way that said I have been searching for ways help me lessen going out daily for those costly, high calorie lunches. I have enjoyed the new single serve Taylor Farms brand salads at Walmart. Taylor Farms salads include the dressing and a small fork. This complete salad deal comes in various mixes, BLT, Asian, Cranberry Walnut and more. The thing I like most is that they are under $3.00 each and most have the calorie count listed clearly printed on the front of the package. Work on your 52 week money challenge by eating in at work, go browse the salad section at Walmart and find your favorite.

Rescue Mission I Shop and Donate to Their Cause

Sunday, February 28, 2016

I have made a conscious effort to shop and donate at all my local thrift stores. I love donating and shopping for a cause at stores that help others in our community. The Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia  Inc. helps a lot of men and women get back on their feet. I donated to their winter coat drive and shop the bargain store often. I hope I am helping them make a difference. Find a organization you like and donate, shop and support them .

Cruise By The Kroger Closeout Corner

During a trip to my local Kroger I stumbled upon a little corner ! I call it the Closeout Corner. The Kroger Closeout Corner had a little of everything . There were foods close to the ( sell by date) , cosmetics and even small home decor items! I will be sure to swing by the Closeout Corner on my future Kroger visits.
Do you know of thrifty savings spots in your favorite retail stores?

OOTD Thrifted and Gifted

Sunday, February 21, 2016

Today I decided to put together an outfit of items I purchased to support NappyModelsInc. run by Be Be Benjamin. I ordered a Antonio Melani hobo bag from their online thrift store DENIMEDU.STOREENVY.COM . To my surprise, I was their first customer.BeBe sent me a nice handwritten Thank You and some bonus gifts, one of the gifts was a very cute"shoe" themed scarf the other was a nice wooden bracelet. All the the pieces flowed good with my black pants and jacket for church today. I always say gifted and thrifted go well together.

Antiquing Is My Other Thrifting

Tuesday, February 16, 2016

Antiques are a jewel in my eyes, I love things from the past. Great antiques assure me of having something unique and well made. I am proud to say that some of my home furnishings came from  my local antique mall. I go antiquing as a way to relax,These days I am not looking to make big purchase, only to reflect and maybe score a small vintage handbag or accessory. Lots of antique dealers price their items similar to the larger thrift stores, so you will see fairly priced sideboards, tables sofas and chairs. If you are furnishing a new home or simply looking to change up your current decor, go check put your local antique store or antique mall see what unique piece you can add to your home decor, Don't for to check out the jewelry cases while you are there. I recently scored a cute vintage necklace.  Happy antiquing throughout Central Georgia  and beyond. For a list of antique stores visit

Mismatched printed clothing can ruin a well meaning outfit

Thursday, February 4, 2016

If you have never thought much of getting that deal on the popular printed pants or skirts. This might make you look twice, especially if the price is too good to be true!I recently started taking a second look to see if prints line up. My mom is a seamstress and she first made me aware of the awful print mismatches. She will not purchase clothing that does not have evenly matched up prints.
Hopefully no one misses the mark and purchases something that looks like the pic below. This was one of the worst I have seen, the print is not only not lined up but ,one image is actually upside down!
Be careful on your quest for a good deal on your next printed item!

Keep your thrift wardrobe evolving with Thrift Club by Retro Swagger.

Monday, February 1, 2016

Retro Swagger is excited to launch it's unique approach to online thrift shopping this month.  Thrift Club is the first online thrift shop that sends the customer 3 outfits to wear per month. The outfits are picked by our designers after a consultation with the customer to get an idea of size, style, and attitude. At the end of the 30 day term, members can either return the items and get new ones, or send us something from their closet of equal or better condition and style. Members may then choose more items from their website. Shipping is free, and all items are cleaned, pressed, and inspected before shipping. The benefit of Thrift Club is that members are able to have a very diverse wardrobe without having an exploding closet !
The physical store location for Retroswagger is 10 Harlow St. in Historic Downtown Bangor, Maine.Their retail shop is always bustling with people buying and selling clothes. They never take donations, but are always buying and trading only the highest quality of gently used clothing.
