Challenge Your Wallet For 52 Weeks! You Will The Like Results

Sunday, January 31, 2016

Here's a really simple savings plan that anyone should be able to do and end up with $1,378 by the end of the year. It starts with saving just $1 the first week.

The next week, save $2. The third week, save $3...and so on. While these are tiny amounts, as the chart below shows, they add up to a big difference. It'll be gratifying to see your savings grow each week.

For even more savings, do it in reverse. Start with week 52 and go backwards, so you can take advantage of greater compounding in your savings account. To be more successful you could set up a semimonthly transfer to your savings account. So what are you waiting for? Print you out a chart, catch up (we are only a few weeks into the year). Stay on course for the rest of the year and enjoy your $1, 378.00 reward in December!

One warm December day I felt like pulling out my favorite teal and black super girl graphic tee. I wanted to be relaxed to go hang out around town. While I was out, I noticed spider man hanging out in front of a local comic book store.  I could not pass up the chance for a cool photo op. Of course the rest of my outfit included my thrifted boots and thrifted velvet jacket. It's okay to add a little fun to your weekend casual outfit. Showing my love of my red and black with this shawl

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

I wandered into the Re-Grand Opening of the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Mercer University drive in Macon back in the fall. It was refreshing to see the great new store layout and fresh inventory. I browsed through the new shoe displays and housewares laid out by color and a wonderful new furniture display. I made my way to the women's clothing. I was only there a few minutes when I spotted a great brand new red and black shawl. I scooped it up, after all I have lots of pairs of black pants to pair things with. My score didn't end there, I got several brand new pieces including a cute brand new dress. I will blog about when I find the right accessories to put with it. I’m sure I will thrift upon some soon. Go check out the updated store on Mercer University, they have 50% off tag color sale each week.

Out in Macon After Church In My OOTD .

Sunday, January 24, 2016

A few weeks ago, when the weather was sunny and beautiful. I decided to wear some of my thrift finds to church. I pulled out my black sequined purse that I scored from the Macon Rescue Mission bargain store.

I wore my brand new thrifted jeans and scarf that I scored from The Salvation Army of Central Ga. topped it off with my houndstooth coat that I bought from a retail store several years ago added some more color with a hat I got from a vendor at my sorority convention.
I enjoy thrifting for great outfits, if you see me out and about just know that some of or all of my outfit will be thrifted.

I find so many great deals at local thrift stores. I visit the stores often , I don't always find things, but frequently visiting the stores increases my chances of a successful thrift score.

Hotel Furniture Liquidation Can Save You Big Money

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

I have been hearing a radio ad for great deals on furniture and televisions. The ad is run by a hotel liquidation owner. I ventured out to see just what one could get at such a place. Once I arrived at the huge showroom of hotel furnishings,  I found collections of furniture from hotels around the country.
I spotted all sizes and styles of brass lamps and nice chairs with very sturdy upholstery coverings. There were numerous pieces of various sized headboards priced from $10.00- $40.00. There were lots of headboards, some were priced as low as $1.00 for full size.  Fancy king sized headboards were priced at $199.00. The television selection was priced at $99.00 for a LG brand 32inch. That is a great saving on an extra television for a man cave or for a kids room. Liquidation warehouses like this offer shoppers an option to furnish a new home or add to their current decor. Check out your local yellow pages to see if a furniture liquidation warehouse is located  near you .Go see what treasures await you !

Don't Be Quick to Part With Your Old Furniture. Try This Trick First

Friday, January 15, 2016

I am thinking of doing a bedroom makeover, however, I don't want to buy new furniture. My current furniture is in good shape, so I started looking for ways to update the look of it. I ran across various pinterest posts about chalk painting or distressing older furniture to give it new life. I was impressed with the outcome shown in lots of the pictures.
A family in Forsyth Georgia  does the distressing technique. I decided to go up to their store "Distressed to Impress" to see some of their work . It was amazing how good the pieces looked. I met one of the owners Paul Walls . Paul told me they can redo anything, the only criteria is the piece has to be real wood in order to have the technique done on it.The cost of a project ranges from $150.00 for a bed , $150.00 for a dresser or $250.00 for a dining room table and chairs. This a a great way to save money. That cost covers painting, supplies, and labor. This is much less than buying a new set of furniture. So, before heading out to the big box furniture stores to make a purchase consider renewing your own old furniture.

Thrifting Can Be Beneficial To Your Weightloss Journey

Monday, January 4, 2016

I  decided to share this great blog post by Blogger Laura Moncur.

Thrift Stores- The Weight Loss Secret Weapon:
When you are in transition to your new life by losing weight, the thrift store is your ultimate secret weapon. One of the good things about dropping pounds is that my clothes are suddenly looser. One of the bad things about dropping pounds is that my clothes are suddenly TOO loose. When that happens to me, I just go to the local thrift shops and buy to my heart’s content.
Since the clothing is a fraction of the price of new clothes, I feel no guilt in buying a whole new wardrobe that will only last me a few months until I get down to my goal weight. Here are my thrift store shopping tips:
Try on EVERYTHING: Clothes vary in size. You can’t go by the size on the label. We all know that different brands are different sizes, but sizes can vary within the SAME brand depending on the year that the clothing was made. A size 14 dress from 1969 is VASTLY different than a size 14 dress from 2009. Try on everything just to make sure it fits.
Be kind to yourself: A corollary to the fact that clothing sizes vary is the request that you be kind to yourself while trying on clothes. When you are so proud of the fact that you finally got down to a size 18, it can be devastating to try on a pair of size 18 jeans that won’t pull up over your thighs. Remind yourself that clothing sizes can change through the years and don’t let the number on the label define your self-worth.
Be patient: If shopping in normal stores is difficult for you, shopping in thrift stores will be even more difficult. You pay for those six dollar designer jeans in TIME. You have to be willing to look through EVERY pair of jeans in the store to find the ones that fit you and look good. Patience will pay off.
Take a trip to your local thrift stores and find some clothes that look good and fit you right now.
Losing weight is a journey that takes a while. Don’t swim in clothes that are two sizes too big just to save money. You deserve to look good at EVERY point in this process. Get out there, thrift you some great stylish items and look great at every stage of your weight loss.

Believe in Yourself in 2016

Friday, January 1, 2016

I was taught at an early age to believe in yourself and everything you do. This has been my motto
in life. I say to people that if you believe in it be willing to stand up for it and go after it.This can apply to various aspects of your life be it your job, relationship or hobby. I ran across a book years ago that still impacts my thinking. It is "The Power of  Positive Thinking " by  Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. Printed on the back cover is the response Dr. Peale gave when he was asked why he wrote the book. Dr. Norman Peale said " The book was written with the sole purpose of helping the reader achieve a happy, satisfying and worthwhile life". The very first chapter is titled Believe Yourself, in it  Dr. Peale gives some inspiration and best of all he simply tells the reader to do a daily affirmation using these scriptures  ( Romans  8:31 ) "If God is for us ,who can be against us ? "and my all time favorite ( Philippians 4: 13 ) I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me, so in 2016 Believe in yourself and believe that you can do all things with Christ giving you strength.

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale.
