ImPress helped give my nails a break

Thursday, December 31, 2015

I love getting  a gel nail polish manicure, it gives me great nails for 2 weeks or longer .
Recently I decided to let my nails breathe for a few weeks. Once I had the gel polish removed I started to notice my nails breaking and chipping pretty bad. The UV light and gel polish can be harsh on the hands and nails. To keep my nails looking manicured , I decided to purchase  Impress RealFeel Press on Nails from Walmart .
I am going to give it a try, so far it works gives and my nails a fresh look. I will use it while my nails recover. Impress  Press On Nails comes in a variety of colors and lasts 7 - 10  days . Best of all ImPress doesn't require glue.

How you do to keep your nails looking glamorous without the risk damaging them ?

I switched up outfit pieces. This red duster works well as part of this new ensemble.

Wednesday, December 30, 2015

Red has not always been a color I felt comfortable wearing. It is the color worn by my sorority, so I have had to wear it more often.  A few years ago I needed a red outfit for an event. I bought a sheath dress  that came with a duster. I did not care for the dress, so I paired the duster with a pair of pants and black blouse. I got lots of compliments.  I donated the dress and recently pulled this duster out and took a few photos for the holidays.

What about you ? Are there colors you have experimented with?

I am wild about this thrifted jacket.

Monday, December 28, 2015

I like to use various prints in my wardrobe, I bought an animal print jacket from Goodwill in Central Ga. I put the jacket with a pair of thrifted chocolate brown pants and thrifted suede boots. The outfit came together. The jacket is very lightweight and versatile and can easily be worn with jeans or a skirt .
Do you thrift a variety of wardrobe pieces that you can wear both as dressy and casual?

I went to be Pampered

Sunday, December 13, 2015

This evening I attended my first
MIDDLE GA. PAMPERED LADIES event. I arrived at Macon Historic Terminal Station to find hundreds of ladies shopping, being pampered with  on site massages,  hand massages and trying out many samples of everything from blueberry wines to specialty foods.Yes, I must mention the ticket fee included a wonderful meal. There were also  continuous drawings for giveaways from the many vendors. Best of all the sponsors used the event to collect a huge toy donation for Kids Yule Love charity. I am all for supporting good causes. So I dropped off my own toy donation which came with an entry to the grand prize drawings. No I did not win , but the experience was a good one. I would attend the event again and encourage others to do so. Good Job MGPL founders!
***Yes parts of my outfit were thrifted( blouse Salvation Army) necklace( Rescue Mission of Middle Ga.Inc.)shoes were my birthday gift from mom.

My Gift of Gold

Last  year my cousin was moving , so she called me to take a look at some stuff was getting ready to throw out. I look through the pile of things and was able to get some clothing pieces out. The item that grabbed me was a pair of gold toned boots. They were a good addition to a recent thrifted outfit that I wore to an outing at High Falls State Park. I always say  ""gifted is better than thrifted ".
Thanks cousin Sylvia King. I hope to wear them before the winter is over.

Rolling Run Way. Fashion on Wheels

Friday, December 11, 2015

I attended the first ever Macon Food Truck Festival in October. I was excited about the food trucks but equally excited about meeting the young ladies of Rolling Runway. They brought there silver airstream (that they affectionately call Sylvia) which was filled with great trendy fashions. I loved it the color scheme bright teal , silver and hints of gold was amazing . I must mention that the owners were very friendly. I have read more about their story and found it very interesting how they went from students working in retail while they attended The University of Georgia and moved on to buying an antique air stream which they did the overhaul on and began their journey a great business venture! Much Luck and Success to these young ladies. Keep an eye out from them at an event near you !!

I paired it with a gold toned jacket and brown pants for the first wearing . Next time I'll do jeans and a nice brownish jacket !!

Oh My You Got to See what I found at the Thrifty Lizard

Thursday, December 10, 2015

I love shopping at thrift and resale stores when I travel . In August I was in Carrollton Ga. When I spotted a neat consignment store called The Thrifty Lizard. It was late in the evening, so the store was closed . I took down the address and business hours, so I could do my visit the next day on my lunchbreak . I found my way back to The Thrifty Lizard, inside I found a great layout of well cared for items that ranged from shoes and clothing of all sizes. Then I spotted the jewelry! Ah yes I love jewelry.I was immediately drawn to a necklace with nice embellishments! The clerk said "oh that is so you" ! And the rest is history, I bought it and a few clothing items that were part of the sale of the week! I have family in the Carrollton area so, I would certainly shop at the Thrifty Lizard Again!!

Out in Central Ga. Ran into Otis Redding

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Recently I was out in Gray Ga.
I had heard about a neat display honoring the late great Otis Redding. As I drove into Gray I spotted it. There it stood ,a big nice replica of a vinyl record partially pulled out of a record cover on the front side. The backside featured an intertactive area with a push button that gives visitors the ability to listen to some greatest hits from Mr.Redding. In keeping with my love of all things thrift, wore my thrifted leopard printed sweater and black pants.
